Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong worked with Intel’s Director in Southeast Asia (Friday, 05/06/2015 10:20 GMT+7)

On 04th June 2015, at the Head office of the Ministry of Transport, the Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong had a meeting with Mr. Prakash Mallya, Managing Director of Intel Technology Group in Southeast Asia. Attending was Mr. Tran Jay, Director of Intel Vietnam. Participants of the Ministry of Transport were Directors General of International Cooperation Department, Science and Technology Department and Director of Information Technology Center.

At the meeting, Mr. Prakash Mallya introduced Intel’s experience and solutions of in the field of intelligent transportation. In particular, Intel applied IOT (Internet of Thing) technology successfully to many countries in the world and in the region such as in the USA, Brazil, Indonesia ... and expected to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport in this pioneering technology.

The Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong appreciated the ability, experience of Intel in the IT field and raised the problems that the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam is concerned about the integration of data sources from the transport systems and vehicles to serve management work through setting out the exchange standards and the integration of data from intelligent transportation systems and deploying them in Vietnam.

The two sides discussed and agreed two specific directions of cooperation between Intel and the Ministry of Transport as followed:

- Intel collaborates with IT Center - Ministry of Transport, Vietnam Registry Department and other relevant agencies to pilot integrating traffic monitoring system in Highway 1 with the registry information system to the data center of the Ministry of Transport. This Integrated System aims at improving the self-awareness to follow registry time of vehicle owners as stipulated by the Ministry of Transport, contributing to ensure safety of vehicles and registration revenues for State budget.

- Intel collaborates with DST and IT Center to study in more details the IOT standards of the Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC), the Industrial Internet Consortium. These are the associations established by the leading technology companies in many sectors, where give the standard definitions of the connectivity requirements and ensure interoperability between billions of devices used in IOT trend. The parties will jointly research, select, and localize of the data integration standards on open infrastructure to suit the conditions of the transport of Vietnam, which enhances the ability to manage gathered and online information of the MOT.

The two sides agreed to soon promote and strive to complete within 2015 to open overall cooperative activities in the coming period in order to accelerate the application of IOT technology in the management of the Ministry of Transport.
