Piloting the application of technology to detecting obstacles on the runway(Friday, 26/06/2015 12:36 GMT+7)

In this morning (26th June), at the head office of the Ministry of Transport, the Minister Dinh La Thang had a meeting with leaders of Xsight Systems, Israel.

At the meeting, Mr. David Ofek - Director of Xsight Systems introduced to the Minister obstacles detection technology, in specifically, chasing birds, on the runway. This technology is 100% safe. "The device is placed just on the edges of the runway, it is the sound sensor to chase birds" – Mr. David Ofek stressed.

"The airport runway safe supporting system of Xsight is recognized by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is one of the solutions for airport security, using radar and optoelectronic technology to detect obstacles on the runway. This system has been installed and located at Logan Airport in Boston (USA), Charles De Gaulle in Paris and Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok "- Mr. David Ofek said.

On that basis, Mr. David Ofek wished to have opportunity to cooperate with the experts and the concerned agencies and units of Vietnam to provide the most suitable solution to detect obstacles on the runway in Vietnam.

Thanking the Mission for coming to work at the Ministry of Transport, the Minister Dinh La Thang said today dealing with obstacles (chasing birds) on the runway in Vietnam has mainly been done by manual methods.

Therefore, the Minister assigned Department of Science and Technology together with Vietnam Aviation Administration and the relevant agencies, Xsight Systems to work specifically with Airport Corporation of Vietnam at Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat Airport to consider and pilot this technology.
