Strengthening coordination between the Ministry of Transport and Vietnam Representative Offices abroad(Wednesday, 17/06/2015 10:33 GMT+7)

In this morning (17th June), at the head office of the Ministry of Transport, the Minister Dinh La Thang had a meeting with the newly appointed Heads of Representative Offices of Vietnam (Embassadors/ Consul Generals) abroad.

At the meeting, the Minister Dinh La Thang said: Over the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Government, with the close collaboration of the ministries, branches and localities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassies, Consulate Generals of Vietnam in foreign countries who have close collaboration with the Ministry of Transport to maintain and strengthen transport cooperative relations between Vietnam and other countries in various fields.

"According to the World Economic Forum in the last 4 years, the Transport capacity index of Vietnam increased 29 levels. Specifically, Vietnam Infrastructure ranked 103rd in 2010, 90th in 2012, and 74th in 2014" - the Minister added.

According to the Minister, development of infrastructures, including transport is one of three strategic breakthroughs to quickly bring our country into a modern industrial country. Transportation must always come first. From now until 2020 investing in developing transport infrastructure needs 1 million billion VND, but now only about 28% of the state budget is balanced and the remaining government bonds must be mobilized from domestic and foreign resources. In particular, ODA fund, direct investment by foreign investors in Vietnam, joint venture, association between domestic enterprises and foreign enterprises to invest is crucial.

"Besides, when we integrate we also need to learn experience of other countries in order to serve the work of policy development in the field of development, management and exploitation of transport infrastructure and especially scientific and technological cooperation, training and development of human resources "- the minister said.

"With your great responsibility to the country, I hope that the Ambassadors, Consul Generals will continues supporting the transport sector to completed our task, so that Transport would actually go ahead to open the road to promote economic - social development "- the Minister suggested.

On this occasion, the Minister Dinh La Thang wished the Ambassadors and Consul-Generals successfully complete the tasks entrusted by the Party and the State in the future to strengthen diplomatic relations between Vietnam and other countries in the world on many areas, including the transport sector.

On behalf of the Heads of the Vietnam representative offices in foreign countries preparing to take the mission in the tenure of 2015 - 2018, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Minh Khoi expressed the gratitude to the Minister Dinh La Thang for spending time meeting the team, and appreciated the work spirit and the work that the Ministry of Transport has developed in recent times.

At the meeting, the Ambassadors, Consul Generals expressed their determination to closely cooperate with the Ministry of Transport to enhance foreign investment, promote the cooperation and transfer of science and technology... to serve the development objectives of the nation in general and the transport sector in particular.
