Italy proposed strategic cooperation on connected transport corridors Vietnam(Monday, 06/07/2015 12:39 GMT+7)
In the afternoon of 06th July, at the head office of the Ministry of Transport, the Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Cong had a meeting with the Italian trade mission group about connected transport Corridor between Vietnam and Italy.
Participants of the Italian Missions in the the meeting include representative of Embassy of Italy in Vietnam; Mr. Michele D'Ercole - Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Italy; Mr. Nicola Paradisc - Chairman of the Port of Ancona; Ms. Manuela Bora - Director of Foreign Trade of the Marche; officials of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Customs Department of Italia ... Regarding the Ministry of Transport side, representatives of the International Cooperation Department, Transportation Department; Management investment boards for public - private projects; Vietnam Maritime Administration; Vietnam National Shipping Lines attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides focused on exchanging information on "Fast Corridor" Project. This is the project which is established by the Italian, aiming at promoting bilateral trade by increasing the number of containers, decreasing delivery time, clearance time between Vietnam and Italy in particular, between VN with Europe in general, thereby promoting effective economic cooperation.
The Project implements 03 activities including promoting bilateral cooperation in logistics field to take Vietnam’s goods to European market and European goods to Vietnam and the neighboring countries; Establishing a distribution center of Vietnam’s goods in Europe and the Mediterranean; Establishing Agency to promote and implement solutions for sustainable development of Vietnam and Italy.
The Italian mission had a general introduction of the infrastructure of Italia seaport system; lifeline maritime transport system between the Europe and Asia; connected railway system to all the most important points in Europe...; the contents, the ideas about green corridor project and proposed strategic cooperation with Vietnam through this project.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Italy said that with orientation of increasing production and developing Vietnam’s goods to European markets and with the desire that Italy would be strategic input point for Vietnam goods in this market, our project would offer facilities to maximize the transportation of Vietnam’s goods, seeking to minimize shipping time and minimize the costs.

Italian Mission wants to have a strategic partnership with Vietnam through Fast Corridor Project
The Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Cong welcomed and appreciated the attention of Italian trade mission to learn and invest in Vietnam in logistics; simultaneously introduced the seaport system of Vietnam; the results achieved and the strategy for development of logistics transport in Vietnam in the future.
"Proposals and ideas to build "Fast Corrior" project are very practical, consistent with the needs for development of logistics transport sector in Vietnam as well as economic and trade relations between the Vietnam and European Union "- the Deputy evaluated.
On behalf of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, the Deputy Minister pledged to support and create the most favorable conditions for the ideas of this project and wished the project soon to be implemented.
The Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Cong requested the specialized agencies to study, review detailed plan of this Project; assigned Vietnam National Shipping Lines to be the focal point of the Vietnam side to discuss the idea of establishing the Vietnam goods distribution center in Italy; International Cooperation Department in collaboration with the relevant agencies to exchange on the establishment of mechanisms to promote and implement solutions for sustainable development of Vietnam in Italy.
