On October 19, in Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province, the Ministry of Transport held the Groundbreaking Ceremony construction of Cao Lanh bridge under Central Mekong Delta connectivity project.
Attending the Ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, Secretary of State – Senator of the Australian Congress Brett Mason, Chairman of the Economic Commission of the National Assembly Nguyen Van Giau, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, Vice Minister Nguyen Van The, former Vice Minister of Transport Ngo Thinh Duc, leader representing the Ministries, Boards, Sectors and Central Agencies, representing the Asian Development Bank; Secretary of provinces: Can Tho, Dong Thap, An Giang, Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Kien Giang.

The Cao Lanh bridge over the Tien river is located in Cao Lanh city and Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province. The project was invested by grant aid capital source of the Australian Government, loan capital of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and reciprocal loan capital of the Government of Vietnam, with a total value US$145 million (equivalent to VND 3,038 billion). The bridge has a total length of over 2,000m, the main bridge section is cable-stayed with two wire planes, width of main span 350m, two marginal spans 150m each spans. The bridge is designed 4 lanes motorized vehicle and 2 lanes rudimentary, design speed 80 km/h. The construction contractor is the venture between China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) and Vinaconex E&C of Vietnam. The project is expected to be completed about 43 months and put into operation in May, 2017
